Of Snoring and Thunderstorms....

Hmm So well where to start... I should have already blogged this... seeing today is already Tuesday. :) We have been extreemly busy... lol when arent we? so I guess ~ Better late than never!
We had a super bad thunderstorm early Sunday morning! I only remember waking up around 3:30am thinking I need to get up and turn that air down.... because it was so hot... but didnt really want to get out of bed and then realized that we were having a major thunderstorm.. and I think the lights are off but cannot really tell because every few seconds the lightning was flashing.... so I sat up in bed and looked toward the kitchen to see if my eyes would focus enough to register in my mind what was going on... when all of a sudden I see this other light wavering... and before I go to hide under the covers and make Chris go and check on it I realize it has to be one of my kids... lol So I got up and low and behold it was Tyler... okay so let me tell you a little about him... He can sleep through ANYTHING! So when he got up it had to be pretty bad... I went into the kitchen and he proceeded to tell me that the electricity was off... and the storm was so bad that it woke him.. so here we were looking for a lighter to light a candle so he could sleep in the living room... and getting the couch ready for him to sleep on, so after our fruitless atempts and dropping everything because we couldnt see, and trying not to wake up anyone else... I told him to grap his laptop and bring his blanket and we would make him a bed on the floor in our bedroom if he wanted me too... and he was all for that! So I got him fixed up and told him I was sorry in advance if his dad stepped on him in the morning... LOL was totally just kidding... (yes I can laugh in the middle of the night) lol so I climbed back into bed and got the pillows situated on my side just in case taylor woke up... so she could climb right into bed and go to sleep... so here I lay trying to go to sleep when Chris who hasnt budged... starts snoring! Okay shouldnt I be used to this??? Ummm no for one thing.. the ceiling fan wasnt on... and it was super quiet because of no electricity... and well my wonderful hubby usually doesnt snore!... and even if he starts sounding like he is going to I touch him and tell him he is snoring and he stops.... so Well I tried that and ummm to no avail, he didnt even skip a beat! so I settled into the rythmitic snoring and the pillow over my ears... all the while the thunderstorm is still going full blast... and started to drift back into sleepytown! Thank you Jesus!!! :) Taylor came in not long after that and stood at the door whispering "shani" trying to wake me up and tell me that its storming... (which by this time... it had slowed down considerably!) lol my kids are so cute! lol so I told taylor to climb into bed. So here we were all snuggled into to bed and I thought now Im going to get to sleep Tyler was on the floor with a bunch of blankets and Chris was sleeping and taylor was starting to sleep and gigi was at the foot of the bed! Ahh sweet Sleep here I come!!!! Ummm... HALT! No!!!! Chris who hasnt stopped snoring.. was still snoring and then would you believe it.... Taylor started snoring! I was dying! Here they were battling for who was going to snore first and I was in the middle! S0 I thought Lord... please please help me sleep... I now had two pillows on my head! lol what a sight I must have been! So there in the wee hours of the morning still listening to the thundering and watching the lightning from the corner of the shades flash on the wall... I began to think of the storms of life... and the Lord began to minister and talk to me... Here I was spiritually going through a storm in my life and I had prayed the night before I went to bed that the Lord would show me what to do in my life to take things out of me and help me to grow... and here I found myself out of my nightly routine and comforts..... I was letting everything around me keep me from falling asleep.. I couldnt shut anything out and I couldnt get my mind focused because that is all that I could think about instead of resting and settling down... I was mentally in a tizzy... in the Bible when the storm arose on the sea... Peter walking on the water came to Jesus! what a miracle! He saw Jesus and he wanted to be with him! but as he was walking to Jesus... something happened! He took his eyes off Jesus and let it stray to the things all around him... the wind, the waves, the tempature, etc... and he started to sink... BUT God reached down! and caught him!!!! He wasnt far he was right there!!! There is a song that the only part I remember is... If you can get me to the cross I can find my way home... I love that song... Through all the toils, pain, suffering, bills, death, arguments, etc... dont let anything get your eyes off Jesus! If they have shifted... Look up! Get refocused!!!! Look to the Cross! He did it all! he paid it all! he finished it all! there at calvary for you and me!!! Whatever the need... whatever the problems you are facing... fear, anexity, divorce, dispair, sickness...... etc look to the cross! That is where he purchased our salvation! and anything else we need we can find it there at his feet... Let his blood cover you! and let His spirit saturate you!!! And know... He is there, right there with you! He is alive and well! Dont let the storms of life let you forget!

With God

Looks like stormy forever

And you'll never see the light of day

Paul and Silas kept on singing,

believingTheir deliverer was on the way

For they knew

With God, I'm protected

With God, I'm set free

With God, none shall harm me

With God

Looks like stormy weather forever

And you'll never see the light of day

Three times that day Daniel knelt and prayed

Oh not afraid, of the consequences he might face

And he cried
With God, I'm protected

With God, I'm set free

With God, none shall harm me

With God

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want (shall not want)

He's my strength, He leads me on

I walk through the valley I'm not afraid

He's there, He is there

For with God, I'm protected

For with God, I'm set free

With God, None shall harm me

With God

Is anything to hard for our God???

Before they call

One night I had worked hard to help a mother in the labor ward; but in spite of all we could do she died leaving us with a tiny premature baby and a crying two-year-old daughter. We would have difficulty keeping the baby alive, as we had no incubator (we had no electricity to run an incubator) and no special feeding facilities.
Although we lived on the equator, nights were often chilly with treacherous drafts. One student midwife went for the box we had for such babies and the cotton wool the baby would be wrapped in. Another went to stoke up the fire and fill a hot water bottle. She came back shortly in distress to tell me that in filling the bottle, it had burst. Rubber perishes easily in tropical climates.
“And it is our last hot water bottle!” she exclaimed.
As in the West it is no good crying over spilled milk, so in Central Africa it might be considered no good crying over burst water bottles. They do not grow on trees, and there are no drugstores down forest pathways.
“All right,” I said, “Put the baby as near the fire as you safely can, sleep between the baby and the door to keep it free from drafts. Your job is to keep the baby warm.”
The following noon, as I did most days, I went to have prayers with any of the orphanage children who chose to gather with me. I gave the youngsters various suggestions of things to pray about and told them about the tiny baby. I explained our problem about keeping the baby warm enough, mentioning the hot water bottle. The baby could so easily die if it got chills. I also told them of the two-year-old sister, crying because her mother had died.
During the prayer time, one ten-year-old girl, Ruth, prayed with the usual blunt conciseness of our African children. “Please, God,” she prayed, “send us a water bottle. It’ll be no good tomorrow, God, as the baby’ll be dead, so please send it this afternoon.” While I gasped inwardly at the audacity of the prayer, she added by way of corollary, “And while You are about it, would You please send a dolly for the little girl so she’ll know You really love her.”
As often with children’s prayers, I was put on the spot. Could I honestly say, “Amen?” I just did not believe that God could do this. Oh, yes, I know that He can do everything. The Bible says so. But there are limits, aren’t there? The only way God could answer this particular prayer would be by sending me a parcel from the homeland. I had been in Africa for almost four years at that time, and I had never, ever received a parcel from home. Anyway, if anyone did send me a parcel, who would put in a hot water bottle? I lived on the equator!
Halfway through the afternoon, while I was teaching in the nurses’ training school, a message was sent that there was a car at my front door. By the time I reached home, the car had gone, but there, on the verandah, was a large twenty-two pound parcel! I felt tears pricking my eyes. I could not open the parcel alone, so I sent for the orphanage children. Together we pulled off the string, carefully undoing each knot. We folded the paper, taking care not to tear it unduly. Excitement was mounting. Some thirty or forty pairs of eyes were focused on the large cardboard box. From the top, I lifted out brightly colored, knitted jerseys. Eyes sparkled as I gave them out. Then there were the knitted bandages for the leprosy patients, and the children looked a little bored. Then came a box of mixed raisins and sultanas — that would make a nice batch of buns for the weekend. Then, as I put my hand in again, I felt the… could it really be? I grasped it and pulled it out — yes! A brand-new, rubber hot water bottle! I cried. I had not asked God to send it; I had not truly believed that He could. Ruth was in the front row of the children. She rushed forward, crying out, “If God has sent the bottle, He must have sent the dolly, too!” Rummaging down to the bottom of the box, she pulled out the small, beautifully dressed dolly. Her eyes shone! She had never doubted!
Looking up at me, she asked, “Can I go over with you, Mummy, and give this dolly to that little girl, so she’ll know that Jesus really loves her?” That parcel had been on the way for five whole months! Packed up by my former Sunday school class, whose leader had heard and obeyed God’s prompting to send a hot water bottle, even to the equator. And one of the girls had put in a dolly for an African child — five months before — in answer to the believing prayer of a ten-year-old to bring it “that afternoon.”
“Before they call, I will answer!” - Isaiah 65:24.

Are you on empty? Are you in a desert place or wilderness with nothing "recharging" in sight? What is your source of Fuel? One definition of fuel that I found is ~

To support or stimulate the activity or existence of.
Faith
In Psalm 27:13 it says ~
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Everything that came against David in Psalms 27 he countered it with something postiive... "faith words" if you will. He knew that when the wicked came against him... God will take care of him... he didnt have to be afraid, He was confident in His God, and because of that... Vrs 6 says ~ And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine ememies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord! Praise Fueled his Faith... He knew that without without God (the very essesence of his being... he would not make it... for it was God that had brought him, through, and brought him out, and kept him!) There was even a time in Davids life where " He encouraged himself in God" the enemy had come in and stole EVERYTHING from him.... but yet he encouraged himself in the Lord his God.. and because of that .... He had enough strength to see what God had promised come to pass! ( See 1 Sam chapter 30)
Do you feel like your faith is low? Do you feel like you are so low you dont know your way up... and you want to give up and throw in the towel??? Well dont! God has much bigger plans for you! Dont give up on the brink of your miracle! Dont let the devil have a chair next to you... so he can dwindle your faith down so low you will give up! Start praising the Lord... Sing, pray, meditate, talk with the Lord your God... praise him! Even when you feel like there is nothing to praise God for... there is... Believe me I have been there before... Its not as hard as you think... just praise him for the strength to get up out of bed, for your eyesight, health, mobility, ability to breathe, that you are alive to see another day...etc. whatever you can think of... even those little birds that wait outside your window and sing as loud as they can in the morning... and wake you up...:) Praise him! As you praise him you will start to become freeier with your praise.. and pretty soon... you will feel your faith to rise, and the thoughts of dispair and "giving up" will have disapeared, God is worthy to be praised! Without Him not a one of us would be here! I once was told a story of a great man of God who was going to quit living for God.. he had had enough! He didnt want to fight anymore, he didnt want to hold on to see the rest of his prayers fufilled.. it had been so so long.. but before he left, he relized that there was alot God had done for him in the past so he wanted to stop just a second before he went on with his life without God, and thank him for some of the stuff God had done for him... (talk about a prayer meeting... this is what the devil doesnt want...) He began to thank God and praise him and after awhile he got up off his knees and was ready to fight the devil again, and serve the Lord.... His faith had been refueled! God through your Praise will break the chains in your life, it will heal, save, deliever etc... Praise releases your faith in God... when your faith in God is released... God is able to move for you! Because when you know that you cannot do it... only HE can! and He will.... God can move and work freely!!!! What is your fuel? What do you rely on to keep you going? Is your faith in Jesus (the God of heaven) your fuel? Do you know? Have you heard... that He can and will do anything for you... if you trust and put your life in his hands? Has your fuel evoraped by life???? It doesnt have too... pull up to the source by prayer and praise... and let your faith increase in the Jesus! NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR HIM..... Do you have faith in him for your life's situations and problems???? Have you fueled up today?

Salvation

The subject of salvation should be of interest to everyone, especially to professing Christians and to those who love the Lord. There is much in the Word of God that many people do not know and much that they do not believe. The Spirit of God comes to lead us into all truth, but it is very hard for people to receive new truth, especially those who have already had a Christian experience. Many people are very afraid of anything that is not taught in their particular denomination and are apt to classify it as heresy, false teaching, or fanaticism without stopping to see whether or not it is really found in the Word of God. Saul of Tarsus truly believed that he was serving God when he persecuted and imprisoned the Christians of his day, but after Jesus appeared and spoke to him, he was dramatically transformed. He later declared, “After the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers” (Acts 24:14).

The Apostolic Teaching

Have you ever stopped to compare the religion of today with that of the apostles? They baptized (immersed) all their converts in Jesus’ name (not in the titles Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), They were baptized with the Holy Ghost and spoke in other tongues. They believed and practiced divine healing. Any one of these things is called fanaticism by many modern churches. Who is wrong – the Bible or modern churches? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism (Ephesians 4:5).
Many people have inherited religious beliefs from their mothers and fathers and have never stopped to compare those beliefs with our only guidebook – the Bible. There are also “blind leaders of the blind” (Matthew 15:14), who have never been born again themselves and therefore cannot properly interpret the truths of the Bible. The natural man cannot understand the things of the Spirit, for they are spiritually discerned (I Corinthians 2:14).
The death of Jesus Christ purchased a far greater salvation than most people know anything about today. Many people believe that by repenting of their sins and striving to live as best as they can they experience all there is to salvation. But as Paul said, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33). God desires to give all of us righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17), and receiving the Holy Ghost is a very definite experience with definite supernatural evidence. Peter and the Jews with him perceived that the household of Cornelius had received the Holy Ghost “because they heard them speak with tongues” (Acts 10:46), and we should expect the same evidence today. Because many people do not, they mistakenly believe that they have received the Holy Ghost when they really have not. For this reason, there is great deadness in many churches and much unreality in the lives of professing Christians.
On the Day of Pentecost, when the New Testament church was inaugurated, the Holy Ghost filled all who were waiting for Him, and they all spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4). Peter explained, “This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh” (Acts 2:16-17). If God worked in this way in the days of the apostles, then why do some people (even preachers) dare to call the same experience today the work of the devil? If we do not understand something, we should go slowly and see whether it is really in the Bible, lest we be found fighting against God and He would say to us as He did to Saul, “It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks” (Acts 9:5).
When Peter preached his marvelous sermon on the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost pricked the hearts of the hearers with conviction, and they cried out, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37). Peter gave them the only New Testament method of receiving salvation: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38).
How terribly this method has been changed and twisted today! No wonder many churches do not have the results the apostles did. If it is to stand the test of these last days, a person’s experience must be “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone”(Ephesians 2:20). In fact, Paul declared, “Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel … let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:8).
There has been a measure of truth in most churches, and therefore they have received a measure of blessings, but God has planned an abundant salvation for the whole person-spirit, soul and body. Most of the deeper truths concerning salvation are either called heresy today or else we are told that they were only for the apostles. But God is no respecter of persons. He will do for us just what He did for the apostles if we meet the same conditions.

Repentance, Baptism, and the Holy Ghost

First, we must repent, turning our back on all sin and turning to God in faith. Repentance is motivated by godly sorrow, and it includes confession of sins to God.
Second, we must be baptized (immersed) in the name of Jesus Christ. In Matthew 28:19 Jesus told His disciples to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. He did not say to baptize in the titles. If this command literally meant to use the titles Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, then there would be a great contradiction in the Bible, for the disciples never baptized in any way but in the name of Jesus. (See Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5; 22:16.) But Jesus said to baptize in the name (singular) of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. These titles are not the one proper name of God, but terms that describe God’s relationships to humanity.
These three roles of God are revealed to us in the name of Jesus. The name of the Son is Jesus (Matthew 1:21). Moreover, Jesus said that He came in the Father’s name and that the Holy Ghost would be sent in His name (John 5:43; 14:26). The one saving name of God is Jesus, which literally means Jehovah-Savior. Jesus was the one God of the Old Testament who came in flesh to be our Savior. “There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). “Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name” (Luke 24:47). In Jesus dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9), so to fulfill Matthew 28:19 we must baptize in Jesus’ name.
Third, God will pour out the gift of the Holy Ghost on us as He did on the disciples, and we will receive the same Bible evidence – speaking in other tongues. (See Acts 2:4; 10:46; 19:6.) As Jesus said, “These signs shall follow them that believe … they shall speak with new tongues” (Mark 16:17). It takes all three steps to complete God’s plan of salvation for the New Testament church.
Our heart is burdened for those who really love the Lord but who through ignorance or fear are being cheated out of their inheritance. Will you not search the Scriptures, see whether these things are true or not, and earnestly ask God to baptize you with the Holy Ghost? These are the days of the “latter rain,” which God is sending to ripen the grain for the harvest. Soon He will come to catch away those who have the same Spirit dwelling in them that raised up Jesus from the dead. Now is the time to examine yourself to see whether or not you are in the faith of the apostles.
Only Jesus can satisfy your soul! If you need something dont look any further! He has all you need.. Call out to him!
~ Until Next time! Shani
